How the archive works

Every puzzle from Guess the Footballer is listed on this page, newest first, one line per day: the date, the puzzle number and the answer. A day's answer is added the day after its puzzle appeared, so the archive is always safe to browse — today's hidden footballer is never revealed early.

Click any date to open that day's page, where the clues come first — nation, position and birth year — and the full answer (name, country, position, birth year and club career) waits behind a click. That way you can still play a puzzle you missed: read the clues, try to name the footballer yourself, and only then open the answer to check.

Each answer page holds the same four clues you played with — nation, position, birth year and clubs — plus the full reveal: the player's name, country, position, birth year, club career and major honours. Every page also links to the previous and next day, so you can browse the archive like a diary of daily puzzles.

Playing a puzzle from the archive

Past puzzles are good practice. The daily format gives you six guesses, and the clue system works the same on every date: start from a well-known name, use the birth-year arrows to cut the field and treat yellow clubs as a shortcut to the right league and era. Pick a day you missed and guess from the hints alone. When you are ready for the real thing, today's puzzle is waiting on the game page — a fresh footballer goes live every day at midnight UTC.

About the daily puzzle

Guess the Footballer runs one puzzle a day, the same for every player in the world. You get six guesses; each guess compares your pick with the hidden footballer across four clues, and a hint is available at the cost of one guess. The puzzle resets at midnight UTC — the evening in the Americas, the morning in Asia and Oceania — and the game is free in English, Spanish and Portuguese, with no account needed.

The archive in three languages

The archive exists in three languages. Every puzzle runs in English, Spanish and Portuguese at the same time — the same hidden footballer for everyone — and each language keeps its own archive page with translated clues and answer details. Use the language links in the footer to switch between the English archive, the Spanish archive and the Portuguese archive: the URLs stay parallel, so the same date is easy to find in any language, and you can even compare how the clues read in another language. It is also a neat way to practise Spanish or Portuguese.

Archive questions

Are the answers here safe to read?

Yes. Every answer in the archive is at least one day old: it is published only after its puzzle has ended, at the daily reset (midnight UTC). Browsing the archive can never spoil today's puzzle.

Can I still play an archive puzzle?

Yes. Open any date, read the hints, and try to name the footballer before opening the answer. The guesses do not count toward your streak, but it is useful practice for the daily game.

How often is the archive updated?

Every day. After each daily reset, the previous day's puzzle is added with its hints and full answer.

Where is today's puzzle?

On the game page — one new footballer every day at midnight UTC, free and without sign-up.
